to LJK Safe Stat Record
LJK takes its moral obligation to provide employees with a safe work
environment very seriously. Since 1947, we have always been awarded
a "satisfactory" DOT rating, the highest grading awarded a
carrier by the DOT. Our Safe-Stat rating places us in the top 25% of
carriers in the USA, for safety. We comply with all drug-testing requirements
and tend to exceed government-mandated standards.
Training centers at our Carrollton, Kearny & Aliquippa facilities
are utilized to teach all new hires and to provide professional development
training for all existing drivers and operations personnel. Drivers
receive certification of their acquired knowledge. Our ultimate goal
is to make safety a "subconscious thought" and to provide
the training necessary to achieve this critical objective.
The following steps have been taken to make LJK safer than ever before:
· Driver-trainers are certified and training programs are
standardized, to assure proper, uniform training.
· Our hiring standards are among the toughest
in the industry.
· Safety-bonuses are paid to our accident-free drivers.
· Equipment is modern and scrupulously
maintained.
· Driver safety meetings are held regularly.
· Approximately 72% of our drivers possess
clear abstracts
· Letters are sent to all drivers after they are involved in
accidents, assessing preventability and methods to avoid recurrences.
· Mud flaps containing our toll-free number
are on our trailers and tractors. These high-visibility, yellow &
black mudflaps provide the motoring public with a way to report unprofessional
driving directly to our safety department.
· Utilization of technology in the truck, such as VORAD, Iteris
Lane Diversion and rollover stabilization in the tractor and trailer.
LJK is in compliance with OSHA workplace health standards and EPA environmental
standards, at this time, and makes workplace safety a top priority.
Fall restraint systems are installed at most major LJK shipper plants,
which meet and exceed OSHA requirements. LJK does not haul hazardous
materials. As a result of the intensifying governmental regulations
pertaining to hazardous materials transport, LJK withdrew from this
segment of the market.
