FLATBED DRIVERS HAUL "WORLD'S LARGEST PENCIL" ACROSS THE U.S.

Created
to honor the 76th birthday of the late writer, musician, and philosopher
Sri Chinmoy, a 76-foot long pencil completed its journey from Jamaica,
Queens to the City Museum in St. Louis Missouri.
KEARNY,
New Jersey - January 28, 2008
- Although L.J. Kennedy Trucking drivers Scott Seymour and Robert Rubinski
are used to hauling a wide range of building materials and equipment
across large distances, even they never imagined having to load a 76-foot
long pencil onto their flatbed trucks. Picked up from Queens, NY and
delivered to L.J. Kennedy in Kearny, NJ by Scott - the gigantic cargo
was then hauled halfway across the country to St. Louis by Robert in
his LJK flatbed.
Split
into two somewhat more manageable 38-foot segments for transport, this
world record-breaking cargo is the result of the efforts of a team of
dedicated individuals led by Ashrita Furman (the holder of 70 Guinness
world records) at the Sri Chinmoy Center in the Jamaica, Queens neighborhood
of New York City.
Weighing
in at approximately 18,000 pounds, the massive pencil sports a 250-pound
eraser and a 10-inch diameter lead fashioned from nuclear plant cooling
rods. For those interested in seeing how this enormous object was constructed
(and sharpened), there is even a video of the process on YouTube - just
search for "largest pencil" on www.youtube.com.
Thinking
about shipping your own 76-foot long pencil across the United States?
According to L.J. Kennedy "Minister of Culture" Mitch Bookbinder,
the cost to ship this behemoth from New York to St. Louis at a discounted
non-profit rate was only "$2,100, C.O.D. - giant paper not included."
L.J. KENNEDY TRUCKS INTO UNCHARTED FAITH-BASED TERRITORY
(Kearny, NJ) L.J. Kennedy Trucking
Company, a leader in the flatbed carrier trucking industry, recently
announced their intensified driver recruitment efforts in the Williamsport,
PA marketplace. To launch their increased driver recruitment efforts,
they are actively seeking new drivers. To launch their hiring efforts,
LJK embarked on a unique direct mail advertising appeal-focused on local
houses of worship in the Williamsport area.
Matthew S. Hojdila, Assistant Manager of New Business Development,
launched the referral campaign. The direct mail letter introduces L.J.
Kennedy to the local area and asks clergypersons to pass along news
of the great employment opportunities to members of their congregation.
Mr. Hojdila had this to say about the new recruitment campaign, "We
are focusing our hiring efforts in the Williamsport area. I feel that
this opportunity will be of great interest to many local church-members."
In addition to providing well-paying and family-friendly jobs to members
of the congregation, LJK will make a contribution of $250 per driver
hired to the house of worship in the driver's name.

FOSTER CHILDREN AND THEIR GUARDIANS TO ENJOY NIGHT OF RACING AT
WOODHULL RACEWAY
(Kearny, NJ)
It is only a statistic, but more than 37,000 children living in New
York state, are in foster care. Many of these children have been emotionally,
physically and sexually abused. Their plight remains a story that is
largely untold and neglected. The voices of these children, and their
guardians, needs to be heard, and understood. That is the why the Kinship
Agency, a foster-care organization that is affiliated with the Archdiocese
of Rochester, has joined forces with Woodhull Raceway, Woodhull, NY,
and the L.J. Kennedy Trucking Company, Kearny, NJ, to raise the consciousness
and awareness of the crisis in foster-care today.
The Kinship Agency, Woodhull Raceway, and L.J. Kennedy, will jointly
sponsor "Kinship Agency Night At The Races" this July 14th,
2007. All foster children in Kinship's care, as well as their guardians,
and the Kinship Agency staff will receive free admission to a night
of exciting racing. Representatives from the sponsors will be attendance,
namely Fred Kennedy, President of L.J. Kennedy Trucking, and Vern Wasson,
Owner of Woodhull Raceway. A large contingent of L.J. Kennedy drivers
and their families will also be in attendance, enjoying "L.J. Kennedy
Family Weekend" at Woodhull Raceway.
In the past year, Woodhull & L.J. Kennedy, in conjunction with the
Mary Pomerantz Agency, Highland Park,NJ, have raised funds to create
and host a website for the Kinship Agency. The next step is to raise
funds to support a direct-mail campaign on Kinship's behalf, as well
as to pay for the purchase of an on-line credit-card payment site. L.J.
Kennedy is inviting all interested trucking companies to join in this
effort, or to start their own initiatives, in conjunction with local
racetracks in their areas.
July 14th will be a night to remember for the foster children in Kinship's
care, but it is only a beginning. The next step is critical: to draw
attention and to drive resources, so that the most vulnerable of all
Americans, our foster children, receive the funds that are essential
to their well-being.
If you are interested in making a difference in the life of a foster-child,
please contact the Kinship Agency at (607)324-0909, and ask for the
Executive Director, Mr. Joe Weider.
if you are a trucking company that wishes to fund efforts to publicize
the crisis in foster care, please contact Mitch Bookbinder. L.J. Kennedy
Trucking: (866)RUN-4-LJK.
If you are a racetrack propietor that wants to join in this unique partnership,
please contact Kenny Shupp, Woodhull Raceway, at (607) 458-5616.
Working together, the racetrack & trucking industry, as well as
the vendors that service them, can make a difference in the lives of
foster children. Remember, when we help at-risk children, we help ourselves,
by making the world a place that is just a little more pleasing to God.
It's the ultimate win-win situation....
